ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

Root Canal Treatment in Encino

When the tissue inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected, root canal treatment may be needed to relieve discomfort and preserve the tooth.

Why Is a Root Canal Needed?

The inner portion of a tooth contains soft tissue commonly called the pulp. Deep decay, cracks, trauma, or other damage can allow this tissue to become inflamed or infected.

Possible Symptoms

Symptoms can include persistent tooth pain, sensitivity to hot or cold, pain when biting, swelling, or tenderness. Some teeth requiring treatment may have few noticeable symptoms, which is why an examination is important.

What Happens During Treatment?

During root canal treatment, infected or inflamed tissue is removed from inside the tooth. The internal space is cleaned, disinfected, and sealed. The tooth may then require a restoration, often a crown, to protect it.

Saving Your Natural Tooth

When appropriate, root canal therapy can allow a natural tooth to remain in place rather than being extracted.
